Day 23 Birthday Wishes
No cards,
No laughter.
No cake,
No hugs.
Just memories,
And quiet.
And longing,
And love.
Happy Birthday, Mom. I miss you

Oh, how I can relate to this post. Simple lines speak loudest in grief. My daughter shares a birthday with her deceased grandmother; twenty-five years have passed, and still feel the pluck of my heartstrings on that day.

You list what goes away when a person goes away.
Yet, you also show what never goes away – their memory and your love for them
Such a powerful poem Thanks for sharing. I also wrote of loss day.
My friend lost her mother yesterday. Writing, recording the memories helps a bit…

How beautiful and bittersweet. I couldn’t agree more, birthdays can be hard. For many years, my uncle and I celebrated our birthdays together – because we were born on the same day exactly 30 years apart. Though I’m thankful every year that I remain, it’s hard knowing that we no longer celebrate our special day in tandem since he passed in 1996.
My heart goes out to you, and I pray this day will be filled with the sweetest memories you can summon. May you see her in heavenly places and revive your love anew.
With Warmest Regards,
~Carla Michelle

Loved the flow of this format; allowed for me to feel your emotions between the lines. Thanks for sharing, Linda. It’s nice getting to know you in this way š
