Part of Slice of Life by Two Writing Teachers March Slice a Day Challenge! I’m slicing every day this month. Thanks for stopping by.
This year has been a roller coaster ride
We buckled our seatbelts in August
as a squeaky microphone shared all of the protocols for our health and safety plan
We braced ourselves as our carts lurched forward into a new school year
into the unknown
The momentum was building as we made our way up the first hill,
Not knowing what to expect at the top
We threw our hands up in frustration
As technology failed us again and again and again
We laughed and sometimes have cried until our bellies ached as we zoomed down
And made our way
through all
the twists
and turns
this year has thrown at us
Our hands go up again,
as we make our way to the last portion of the track
What will happen next on this roller coaster adventure?
What snapshot will be taken to capture this year as we make our way up our final hill?
I don’t think the souvenir photo is one I would pay $14.99 for at the gift shop. I’ll keep the sanitizer, though.

oh, that click-click-click sound as we went closer to the first peak was really scary! Great analogy and what a ride! Hopefully a ‘once in a lifetime’ ride!!

Yes–crossing my fingers this is a once in a lifetime ride!

What a great extended metaphor! (Even though this is a ride I’d be happy to have torn down!)

Thank you! Yes–I hope this ride is closed at the end of the year and never opened again!
