Traveling Hiccups

Today we were scheduled to fly back to New Jersey to start our journey home.

Unfortunately we had an early flight and needed to wake up at 5 am.

Fortunately, our alarms went off, everyone moved quickly, and we got out on time.

Unfortunately, we hit major construction traffic.

Fortunately, I packed snacks which served as the perfect distraction as we inched along the highway.

Unfortunately, that meant we needed to use the bathroom and now had very little time before our flight would board.

Fortunately, security was quick and easy, so we had time to visit the restrooms.

Unfortunately, this flight would not have screens available at each seat like our previous flight had.

Fortunately, we packed the iPad that the kids could share.

Unfortunately, they could not agree on one thing to watch.

Fortunately, my oldest conceded and we had come to a compromise.

Unfortunately, the splitter we had purchased did not work and only one headphone could be plugged in at a time.

Fortunately, we have several devices.

Unfortunately, we only own Apple products with no headphone jack.

Fortunately, grandparents are android users.

Unfortunately, the free WiFi and entertainment was not working.

Fortunately, we have downloaded content.

Unfortunately, it’s only available on the Apple products.

Fortunately, my youngest was distracted by snacks while the oldest had the first turn with the iPad.

Traveling with kids who can handle disappointment and are flexible (when we needed them to be), a silver lining.

    1. Yes! We’ve been doing this format for a few years and then someone shared that book with me last year! It now serves as a mentor text for this format 🙂 one of my favorites!

  1. This is a fun format. I might need to try it some time. As an Apple product user, I’ve been stuck using the crappy airline earbuds more than once, so I empathize w/ the tech troubles. I love to travel, but the coming and going can be challenging.
