Day 29 Longing
I want to write a book. Frankly, I’ve always wanted to write a book, ever since I was a kid. I devoured books like candy. So often I wondered, “Are there any stories in me that someone would want to read?” As I grew up, that urge never went away, but I didn’t do much about it.
About 10 years ago I realized I want to write a book that helps people in some way. Maybe it’s a book for kids, to help them deal with life. Maybe it’s a book of my journey over the past 6 years. Truth be told, I have about 60,000 words towards that goal. (I’ve started rewriting because I really, really threw my ex under the writing bus, and in all fairness I feel compelled to try again.) Will I figure out how to finish? What should it be? Do I keep going or start again. And then, to whom I should send it?
I don’t have the answers to these questions; I just know I want to keep writing. This SOLSC has made me think that maybe I should.
Just do it! Don’t let not writing a book be a regret. You can join a Facebook group for aspiring authors to get information about how to proceed once it’s done.
Yes! As a writer, you have many options. Listen to your story and let it lead you.
You should! This is an amazing idea! I love to write but I’ve never really had the desire to do a whole book, but I think that anyone who hears that call tugging at their heart should go for it! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I have related to the “that anyone would want to read” line throughout this whole month long challenge. Writing takes bravery and your work has shown your great courage and thoughtfulness. GO FOR IT!
