Part of Slice of Life by Two Writing Teachers March Slice a Day Challenge! I’m slicing every day this month. Thanks for stopping by.
A’s Eyes
Have you ever gotten the look?
You know the one that I mean…
If eyes could kill–you would be dead kind of look
Sharp
Piercing
100% annoyed
100% do not want to be listen to you right now kind-of-look
The kind of eyes that makes you sigh
And make you feel like no matter what you do, you can’t do it right
You arrive too late.
The next time too early.
Usually your eyes shine
Bright blue
Full of curiosity
Followed by a string of questions
Questions about the world
And how things work
Usually your eyes are problem solving
Creating towers out of crayons
Turning boxes into buildings
Using your endless supply of tape
Usually your eyes show pure joy
Sharing your happiness and laughter with the world
Like when you rollerblade down the hallway
Or when you are playing an imaginary game with your younger sister
Or when you share a new joke you have learned
Usually your eyes show your determination
Like last month when you wanted to read the most books for February’s reading challenge
Or when you write and plan for your newest video adventure
Or when you really want something and someone tells you no
But today, in this moment
Your eyes are like lasers
Annoyed with my decision to arrive early
Ah yes, the look…I have given it many times too! LOL

I can see this look. And also it made me think of one of Mardi’s looks. 🙂
I love the way you describe the usually vs. the now look. So many looks that our kids give us. I know them well!
