Real, Fake, Paper, & Painted

Day 6 of the March Slice of Life Challenge hosted by the Two Writing Teachers! #SOL26

My fifth graders are joining me in the month-long slicing challenge. Today, I shared my overpriced grocery store cactus haiku as inspiration for today’s slice. We then observed and took notice of all of the plants–real, fake, paper, and even painted around the classroom. There were more than I even realized! How many plants can you spot?

Here are some of our class favorites 🙂

We have lovely plants
They are around the classroom!
They are everywhere!

The classroom jungle
Overtakes the shelves of books
Fake and real in pots

So many plants here
Some grow and thrive, some do not
They’re all so pretty

Plants fill our classroom
Some small, and big, rough, and smooth,
Many MANY plants

A plant on the shelf
Looks like a palm tree, kinda
Thoughts of Miami

And this last one… wow!

Green leaves drink the light,
Roots reach deep into the earth,
Life in every bud.
