Day 1 of the March Slice of Life Challenge hosted by the Two Writing Teachers! #SOL25
When do you fill up your gas tank?
No, this isn’t a metaphor for life
Although, maybe it should be
Are you the kind of person that once your tank is halfway empty
You panic and hit up the next gas station?
Or do you wait until it reaches the last quarter of a tank mark?
What do you do when you notice it’s time to get gas?
Do you prepare and make sure your tank is full for the next day?
Or you procrastinate and plan to do it in the morning?
Are you like me?
Someone who lives on the edge
Someone who calculates how many more miles you need to drive
And compares it to the “23 more miles until empty” message that appears when you turn on your car?
Do you roll into the gas station with 0 miles until empty?
Snap a picture and send it to your best friend group chat?
No?
This slice isn’t a metaphor for life
Although, maybe it should be
Krista, your wonderful slice IS a metaphor for life. I am a 1/4 full must fill person but my son, who I love, is a a take that tank to empty person. We have had some wonderful times because HE does not worry until the car STOPS.

Thanks for commenting! LOL! I’m also a take the tank to empty kind of driver. I try to do better in the winter.

Ha! Today I finally remembered while I was out that my tank was getting empty — I had 12 miles left, I think, and I was sooooo proud of myself for stopping for gas while on errands….

Yay! Stopping for gas while out for errands is something that should be celebrated! Woohoo!

I am the type of person who waits until the last mile! I will also tell myself “I’ll get it in the morning” and then forget about it until I’m already running late! I oftentimes tell myself, “well, David says I have atleast 20 more miles because it usually means it’s not completely out of gas” 🤷🏼♀️ I haven’t tested that theory to the fullest though, yet. 😬

I’ve done the “I’ll get it in the morning” scenario! It always happens on mornings that we’re running a little bit behind, too!

I’m the type of person who fills it up when it gets to a quarter of a tank. That rule has been ingrained in me by my father. I’ve only gone one time to the point where the light came on. It’s a time I’ll never tell my dad because I’d never hear the end of it.

This is probably a good rule to follow. 🙂

I definitely calculate *just how far* I can go until I’m calling for help. My daughter, though, a new driver, fills up at half a tank. Which was one of my better “do as I say, not as I do” driving lesson instructions =P

Half a tank for a new driver, sounds like a good plan to me! 🙂 I was more like this in my younger-years.
