Day 20 of the March Slice of Life Challenge hosted by the Two Writing Teachers! #SOL24

I just started reading: The Iron Flower by Laurie Forest and Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.

I just finished reading: The Black Witch by Laurie Forest, First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston, & The Things We Left Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros

My favorite books so far this year are: One Summer in Savannah by Terah Shelton Harris, The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson, The Women by Kristin Hannah, and House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

Something that I’ve learned about myself as a reader this past year is: I enjoy reading fantasy titles more than I thought! Keeping track of titles I’ve read on Good Reads has been motivating and helps me keep better track of my reading goal for the year AND I no longer have random screenshots of books, notes with titles, or random pieces of papers with titles written on them… if someone gives me a book suggestion, I can add it to my Good Reads account. Woohoo!

Realistic fiction is probably my favorite genre. I like to sprinkle in mystery/thrillers, historical fiction, and romance. 🙂 I also really love to read middle level texts that I can add to my classroom library… but I’m trying to pick “adult” books just for me! And no… not that kind of adult book.

Some titles on deck are: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and The Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score

My reading goal for this year is: Read 60 titles! I just finished book 22. Last year, I ended with 64.

  1. I love learning about new books to explore. I set a goal for myself of 50 books this year. This writing challenge has slowed things down a tad. Thanks for the recommendations. I just added a couple to my library waitlist.

  2. I can’t ever resist a reading slice! How did you like Hello Beautiful? I’ve seen it on several people’s lists of books they really loved last year. Thank you for giving me an idea for my slice today! I really enjoyed this format and the picture it gives of your current reading life.

    1. I’m enjoying it so far! It has been on my “to read” list for a while… I was patiently waiting to borrow it from the library, but broke down and bought it. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  3. It’s so fun to hear about what other people are reading. I read The Black Witch and The Iron Flower also. I found it really interesting to see how Laurie Forest portrayed someone from privilege coming to realize their privilege and start to expand their world view. The rest of the books in the series are on my to be read list someday. House of Flame and Shadow and Demon Copperhead are also on my TBR list. Sounds like you and I could be book friends! 🙂
