Part of Slice of Life by Two Writing Teachers Thanks for stopping by!
Bedtime with young kids can be tough.
I thought as they got older, it would get easier.
In some ways it has, and in other ways it has not.
If this were a confession slice, I might even confess that it’s the hardest, sometimes most dreaded part of my day.
Don’t get me wrong, I love snuggling with my girls in their beds
and reading books
and talking about their day
and answering all of the “why” questions
AND then I wish they would just go to sleep.
Sometimes they do
And many times they do not–at least not right away
But when your almost-soon-to-be-five-year-old says,
“I want to snuggle buggle with you! You’re my one true love!”
Your heart melts and bedtime doesn’t seem so bad
You turn on some music and snuggle buggle in
And you feel thankful for swim lessons
And thankful your tired almost-soon-to-be-five-year-old
falls instantly to sleep.
“Snuggle buggle” with your “one true love”- so sweet!
