Cinnamon Raisin Bagel

Grief is a weird thing
It shows up, unexpected
Like when you’re walking down the grocery aisle at the store
And you spot cinnamon raisin bagels
And you think to yourself
Mmm those look good
I bet they’re not as a good as a NYC bagel
A freshly made that morning bagel
A bagel I usually eat with…
Grief is a weird thing
It shows up, unexpected

  1. This is beautiful. It is so true. There are so many of those moments that just stop you in your tracks and slap you in the face. I found myself sobbing once in the aisles of a new grocery store because it reminded me so much of my grandma. Hugs in your time of grief.

  2. Really well stated. It’s amazing how those little things can just bring us right back to our grief! Thank you for sharing. I hope you bought those bagels and ate them in the memory of the one you are missing. : )
