The last time this room was this empty
Tom and I were painting into the wee hours of the morning
While juggling the responsibilities of an almost two year old
Trying to turn the house we just bought into our home
The last time this room was this empty
I was mopping the floor with Murphy’s Oil Soap
The floor shined and smelled so clean
The last time this room was this empty
We had just parked the u-haul out front
And were unlocking the front door
to bring in our first load of furniture
The last time this room was this empty
We were figuring out where to put the couch
And also the dining room table
We had decided to gut the kitchen before we moved in
The last time this room was this empty
We were a family of three, not yet complete
It was June, just starting to get hot
This room is now empty
Clean, smelling like Murphy’s Oil Soap
And the Liquid Gold I applied to protect and restore our floors
This room is now empty
Patiently waiting for new furniture to arrive
And soaking up the sun from the front window
This room is now empty

Love this and the sensory detail of the oil soap – such a point of resonance for me. Thank you

I can feel the excitement and smell the oil soap on the floors.
