Right now I am….
Listening to the conversation around me, warmly familiar, animated, and comforting, as we visit with family who just arrived to spend a couple weeks with us. It’s sure been a minute.
Collecting little joys and inner giggles at the words floating around my ears. Current news, reminiscing, storytelling, and playful ribbing. Connections built on decades of love.
Valuing the in-person squeezes and hugs that have been too lean these last couple years. Full-on, bear hugs that last for days.
Noticing our dog, Kaia, scrambling to keep up with hubby as he goes in and out the sliding door working his magic on the grill. Up and down, up and down, a furry flurry of sliding around on the tile floor. Whining and yelping with consternation when she cannot go outside each and every time that door opens.
Smelling the sweet, spicy teriyaki deliciousness of the pork tenderloin wafting in from the back porch. Dinner’s ready!
Tucking these precious moments away in my memory as stories to pass on continuing the family traditions.
